Events
As we are such busy bunnies, we’ve decided to put a ‘What’s coming up?’ page here, so you can keep up to date withwhat’s going on. So here’s a list of coming events:
from 19th until 28th of March we are hosting a residency by Jonathan Kay and the Nomadic Academy of Fools. I cannot stress how foolish you will be to miss some, or indeed any of the workshops and performances, and bad foolish, not good foolish. For more info, go here and get NAF
Performances on: Friday 19th at 8pm – ‘Know One’s Fool’ – performance by Jonathan Kay – unmissable!
Sunday21st-Wednesday 24th – Shakespeare’s Richard II – all the fools playing all the parts, set, costumes, props – it’s theatre, jim, but not as we know it.
Friday 26th – Feast of fools – al the fools and Jonathan doing what they do best – fooling
Workshops - Sat/Sun 20/21st – Know One’s Fool workshop with Jonathan Kay, 10am til 6pm – massive recommend
Sat/Sun 27/28th – more Know One’s Fool – another massive recommend for an amazing exprience – do it!
6th May – Sonic Asylum: Only Brum performance by Canadian band, The Wilderness of Manitoba, accompanied by all kinds of sonic madness, interactive installations and very probably a couple of exploding plastic inevitables!
6th- 15th June we’ll be hosting an installation by Bulgarian artist Raycho Stanev – http://www.89.nagledna.net/ – a very moving piece about the ‘excursion’, when hundreds of thousands of Turkish Bulgarians were expelled from the country on a ‘visit home’ and noot allowed to return – unmissable.
All these events are what we know as ‘Off the Edge’ events – this means that they are not curated by the Edge, we are merely their humble hosts. Of course, however, we endorse all those brave souls who venture to step off into the abyss, happily holding their hands (we have been known to let go on the way down;-) . Currently all events presented at the Edge are supported by Friction Arts, by donation and your generosity and by volunteer labour throughout the process. Genuine volunteers always appreciated, massive bequests by eccentric millionaires with an interest in peripheral culture also.
We are always interested in submissions for new work at the Edge, particularly in the fields of hybrid arts, time-based and performance work and intervention and participation. If you think you’ve got an idea or a project that fits the bill, we’d like to hear from you. Whether it is a funded or supported project, or completely DIY, we can work with you to make it happen.
