As well as our more socially-engaged approaches to our work, we’ve always had a great interest in the field of performance.  Often our interventions require a performative approach and, over the years, we’ve sought out opportunities to learn and apply new performance techniques.  So, when we got an opportunity to work with the performance artist Guillermo Gomez-Pena at the (sadly missed) X-ray factory, we jumped at the chance.  Guillermo has developed a process of performance which uses and subverts cultural imagery and iconography to present artworks which attempt to navigate cultural borders.  About half the group that worked with Guillermo and Pocha Nostra on the project were ‘Frictionites’, so we made our mark on the performance.  This is definitely not easy or particularly ‘accessible’ work, but great nonetheless.  Check out the slideshow for some great images of a very ‘out there’ evening.
