To You From Super Me
Just a quick reminder that the launch of our exhibition ‘To You From Super Me’ is this Wednesday, 20th June in the Lower Gallery at the Public, New St, West Bromwich, B70 7PG.
This exhibition celebrates the extraordinary imagination of eight talented individuals with autism from the Windmill Young People’s Centre, offering a fascinating insight into the ‘superpowers’ of these often misunderstood young people. Friction Arts worked with Sandwell Youth Services (SEND) over nine months hosting a series of workshops in which the group developed their own ‘Super Hero’ themes. Fusing animation and film, the exhibition celebrates their unconventional and liberated approach to the world. Marvel/DC comic book illustrator John McCrea and celebrated image-maker Chris Keenan have collaborated with Friction Arts and this Sandwell youth group to produce a knock-out contemporary video installation that reveals the personalities of eight extraordinary young people.
We hope to see you on this special occasion and have the chance to share this piece of our work with you, have a chat and a drink together, and get to know these wonderful young people that fill our Tuesday evenings with joy. So, please join us next Wednesday evening at the Public.
