Friction are looking for a Lead Artist to help them deliver our programme of drama in primary schools in Birmingham. We need someone who is experienced in delivering high-quality drama and is committed to helping young people explore themselves and the world around them through imagination and joy. Our programme focuses on developing improvisational skills, with young people creating their own narratives and designing their sharing events. The drama focus is young person-centred rather than building and performing traditional theatre work and we encourage new ways of working and non-traditional approaches to create something special with our young people. Our young people are highly diverse in terms of background and ability and we need a Lead Artist who can be sensitive and use this to the group’s advantage. The Lead Artist will be expected to deliver at least 3 after school sessions weekly during term time and to help manage the support artists and relationships with schools, young people and parents and to assist in monitoring and evaluation in association with our Community Producer. Closing date for applications is midnight on 8th September. There will be a workshop/audition on the early evening of 10th September, with shortlisted candidates being interviewed on Saturday 14th. To apply, please send your CV and covering letter to the address below.
No Jazz hands, please.
