Cardboard Carnival Brings Joy and Solidarity at COP 30

15th November saw the carnival in Brazil for COP 30 joining with our own Cardboard Carnival and with people all over the world demanding more from our governments and corporations.

After our morning workshops at the Edge, we had a live linkup with Belem Brazil, having our questions answered by Leon Sealey-Huggins of War on Want. The carnival was then led by Brum young people from Woodcraft Folk, Bham Youth strike for Climate our own Friction art club and CREATE Youth groups from Highgate. Your Questions Answered:

  • Do you really care? 
  • How can we support young people in Brazil and everywhere who are suffering because of Climate Change?
  • Why don’t we hear more about what young people are doing in COP 30?
  • How can we stop people or countries digging up more fossil fuels?
  • Money for Global South was agreed last time wasn’t it?  Have they got their money?
  • For Just transition to happen how can we make polluters pay?
  • Are people living in the Amazon protected, and do they know what is happening?
  • How can you stop the cost and the sacrifice being past onto young people in the future?
  • How do we know what you do is greenwashing or not?

A big shout out to all the fabulous people working on our behalf at COP 30 including Leon Sealey-Huggins from War on want, and everyone involved, especially the Young people who were able to attend and also prepare questions and artwork for the day – also Woodcraft Folk, Friends of the Earth, GreenPeace, XR rhythm, Change Kitchen, Highgate Community Support and all Brum Climate Justice Coalition partners able to show their support and continue working for Climate Justice.
