Arts Education At The Edge
We’re pleased to announce a collaboration with Arts in Action and will be launching our home education programme. The programme is focused on providing high-quality visual arts education to those who are seeking a supportive and professional educational setting, outside of school settings. This course will provide an opportunity to obtain a GCSE qualification if wanted!
The children and young people will be led by an experienced Art Teacher and facilitator who will guide their learning and development.
We follow a ‘Stages not ages’ model, to ensure that the lesson settings are the right fit for your child, allowing them to make the most of their sessions.
Every half-term we start a new theme. Each project is scaffolded to other ones, building and revisiting skills in different ways to build confidence and embed skills and knowledge. Sessions are fun and relaxed. but also full of knowledge and cross curricular conversations. Children can link projects to their interests. Sessions are flexible, if you miss one, or if your child doesn’t like an activity, we can easily switch things up and personalise.
If you’re interested in registering your child or young person. Please complete this form.
If you have any questions about the programme, please feel free to get in touch with us via arteducation@frictionarts.com.

Skill Builders 1 provides an opportunity to develop your child’s skill sets and techniques through relaxed sessions. Each term has a theme that can be built upon by the students. Those who don’t like the theme, or may want to try something different will also have the opportunity to do that.
Skill Builders 2 is the same as skill builders 1, but for those at a higher stage in their artistic skills and development. We will carefully monitor the progress of those in our classes to make sure they’re in the right class for them.
This course is perfect for those who are interested in pursuing a GCSE qualification but feel like they need a little more time to develop skills and experiment with their work. This course allows for the development of these skills and working on more complex projects in a relaxed and comfortable environment, at their own pace.
Our GCSE Art sessions are typically accessed by those over the age of 12 (or based on skill level), and provides the necessary activities and sessions to develop quality portfolios, sketch books and research to obtain a GCSE Art qualification. This course will allow the students to explore their own artistic interests and be guided by their own choices of media. They will be supported by our teacher to ensure that they are meeting the criteria for a successful GCSE qualification.
The lessons and workshops will take place at The Edge studio. To find out more about The Edge please take a look at our page on it here.
