Arts Education at The Edge is returning in the New Year. With a brand new programme and schedule. Find out information about registration and course content below!

The programme is focused on providing high-quality visual arts education to those who are seeking a supportive and professional educational setting, outside of school settings. This course will provide an opportunity to obtain a GCSE qualification if wanted!

The children and young people will be taught by Yasmin, a secondary school teacher with 7 years of experience in art, graphic design, and media experience.

We follow a ‘Stages not ages’ model, to ensure that the lesson settings are the right fit for your child, allowing them to make the most of their sessions.

Every half-term  we start a new theme. Each project is scaffolded  to  other ones, building and revisiting skills in different ways to  build confidence and embed skills and knowledge. Sessions are fun and relaxed. but also full of knowledge and cross curricular conversations. Children can link projects to their interests. Sessions are flexible, if you miss one, or if your child doesn’t like an activity, we can easily switch things up and personalise.

What’s New?

We have been trialling the Arts Education sessions since November to identify how we can find a service that works best for our young artists and their parents/guardians. So we’ll be starting the New Year with some small changes to the programme.

Parking

We will be able to provide parking for those who need to drive to attend sessions. Just let us know if you’re planning on coming in a car!

Advanced Skill Builders

Previously, the Skill Builders 1 and the 11+ Advanced Art sessions will be renamed the Advanced Skill Builders and combine. We’ll also be extending the session from 1pm to 2:30pm (an extra 15 minutes. Don’t worry the class sizes will remain the same!

Home Ed Art Club

We’ve moved the time of our sessions for ages 4-8 to 11:00 in order to ensure that parents/guardians of younger children have a little more time in the morning before getting here.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How big are the classes?

We will have a maximum of 15 young artists in each of our classes, in order to ensure that those attending have people to chat with each other, but also to ensure that those who require a quieter learning environment have the space to do their own thing.

How long are the classes?

The class lengths vary depending on the subject and the age/stage. The Home Ed Art Club is an hour long, the Advanced Skill Builders is 1:00-2:30, and the GCSE Art sessions is 2:45-4:45.

What are the term dates?

We have our current term which is running until the 5th of January, with the new term starting on the 12th of January, running until the 9th of February.
