We hosted a youth led event that linked local action with global solidarity! We invited friends from near and far to join us for a playful Cardboard Carnival on 15th November to coincide with COP30 taking place in Brazil.  A hybrid event it connected across Birmingham the UK and Internationally!

In 2025 the world’s largest environmental annual carnival will be held in Brazil. The Conference of Parties (COP) was first held in 1995 specifically for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Birmingham has contributed to all 29 previous COPS, notably in recent COPs by young people in demonstrations and Brum Climate Justice Coalition organised events and conferences.  Friction and our Art Club have also been directly involved hosting workshops presenting at conferences and creating the Ark (see below)

Soheila and Razi returned to film our ‘Cardboard Carnival’ below, and see photos and more film clips here.

What was Cardboard Carnival?

We’ll be making stuff in the build up, or you can come along to make things in the morning for our Carnival, connecting with people online all across the World in the afternoon.

The event is led by young people  from Woodcraft Folk and our Art Club – more to follow!

Get involved
