Sun sets as New Hopes rise in Highgate
Another beautiful night at New Hope Park as some 200 people gathered to watch the sun dip over the Birmingham skyline. While a brief rainbow graced the sky, the weather held firm, allowing for an evening of warmth, community, and fun.
Community, Creativity, and Caribbean Warmth
A puff of smoke announced the lighting of the firepit. Many local residents had heard about the event through local flyers, while others were drawn simply by the sight and smell of the smoke. Some brought their own coffee and marsh mallows to add to the delivious caribbean vegetable soup generously provided by The Active Wellbeing Society
Faith Pearson brought shadow play and mask making, We built our community record by adding drawings of Highgate and New Hope Park onto our giant map. Wondering minstrels Natalie Mason and Maja Pluta playing music with young people, encouraging everyone to join in a beautiful sound bringing the Park to life.
Music, Marshmallows, and Making Memories
As the fire crackled, the smell of burning marshmallows wafted, play and smiles everywhere you looked, lifting the soul and hope in Highgate.
‘Home in Highgate’ partnership of local organisations, funded by Highgate Community Support, has once again brought local communities together, outdoors, in New Hope Community Park.
