As you know, we’re undertaking a major refurbishment of the Edge. This means we’ll be closing for the best part of a year.
There’ll be big changes at the Edge, but we’ll be ensuring the soul remains the same. Major changes are:
A new, super-accessible ‘changing places’ facility on the ground floor
Underfloor heating and new wooden floor surfaces
New 1st and 3rd floor mezzanines and an extension to the existing 1st floor
A lift, all the way to the roof and a new stairway
Heat pumps, solar power, mechanical ventilation and ‘wrapping’ the building in insulation
New balustrades on the roof, creating a new, safe outdoor space
There’ll be loads of other quality of life improvements like a new kitchen, new loos, and it will be a lot more cosy and comfortable. You can get a bit of an idea from the stills from the architect’s fly-through images, of course it’ll look a lot more ‘Edgier’ than that.
We’ll be closing our doors at the end of this month, but we’re not really going anywhere, and we can still be contacted in all the usual ways. You can keep abreast of developments by visiting the news page on our website.
When we return, we’ll have a safer, sustainable and accessible space for cultural and community activity in our city long into the future, Exciting times ahead!
